Lori Wasserman PhD., ABPdN
Dr. Lori Wasserman is a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida. She is Board Certified in pediatric neuropsychology by the American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology and the Florida Psychological Association. Dr. Wasserman received her doctoral degree from Hofstra University in New York, in Clinical Psychology and with an additional certification in School Psychology. She received training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy at the Institute for Advanced Study of Rational Psychotherapy under Albert Ellis Ph.D.
Dr. Wasserman maintains a private practice in Boca Raton where she provides clinical services for adults and children. Dr. Wasserman treats patients with clinical concerns including Depression, Anxiety, life stressors including marital and family changes, ADHD and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Mental health includes Psychological issues as well as environmental and biological components. Dr. Wasserman's treatment is a unique combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy coupled with an understanding of our neurobiological and neuropsychological functioning designed to provide the patient with a thorough understanding of what is causing the stressors, and how to best handle them in order to facilitate a sense of empowerment and mental health.
Dr. Wasserman also administers pediatric neuropsychological evaluations for children and young adults. Dr. Wasserman has had extensive experience in evaluations of children, conducting infant and early childhood assessments through college. Dr. Wasserman conducts neuropsychological assessments to provide families with a comprehensive understanding of their child’s strengths and challenges. These assessments provide an evaluation including looking at overall intellectual ability, problem solving skills, attention, reading and language comprehension and overall development. These findings are then used to create a road map for the appropriate intervention services when needed in order to facilitate the child’s development.
Dr. Wasserman's commitment to the field is evident in her achieving Board Certification as well as contributing to the field through journal article publications, having co-developed Neurocognitive Learning Therapy, a treatment approach that integrates neural network theory with Cognitive Behavior Therapy and presentations. Dr. Wasserman has co-authored six books on neuroscience, neural network theory and mental health. She has published and presented invited workshops on topics including attention, motivation, children’s development, language, motor development and executive function, behavior management and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
